Hey Everyone, Well, here are some spy shots of my ride, all disassembled and ready for the air brusher. This is the point when you start to get that nervous feeling in the pit of your stomach. Its too late to turn back now! ;D We are gonna start masking off the flame layout this afternoon, and should be ready to shoot by Saturday night! I am going to be taking pics throughout the process, and will put some more up as we progress! Take it easy! Candyman

Hey Qman,
Welcome back my man! It is great to see you, and you know you are always more than welcome here anytime! ! You know you guys will get a sneak preview right here as soon as it rolls out of the body shop! Man it is so funny how, I can picture ideas, and plans pretty well on every one else's ride, but when it comes to my ride, I am all nervous as hell! ;D
Update on Project Flames:
Though this project feels like it is taking forever, a lot of the time involved was intentional. See, when I took my ride over, I knew it was going to sit around the shop for a couple of weeks as they were getting the cars done! The reason for this was, the more the car sat, the more time the painters, and body guys had to study the body lines, and dream up some new, and cool flames
The other goal I was working towards when I started this project, was to go into it with a basic direction, and let my air brusher evolve it into something really cool! Its been my experience in the past that if you go into this with a set idea in your head, then they will do the job accordingly weather it be good, or bad. However, by allowing the air brush artist a little room for creativity, then you are more likely to pull off some really clean, and cool graphics.
As of today, my ride is still disassembled, masked off, and mostly in primer. We did hit a little snag today, as we had to order the Custom Orange Pearl Paint from Chrysler in order to re-shoot a new base, so we are stalled till Monday, or Tuesday. Once that is done, they will Quick Dry the base under the heat lamps, and should be ready to layout the Flames probably Wednesday, or Thursday, and most likely be in the booth Friday night. I thought it was really cool that they are going to wait to shoot the Flames till after hours, so they can shoot the entire graphics in one continuous shoot, without any interruptions! Then it will sit in the booth over the weekend to cure, and then 15 coats of clear on Monday to get a super dark, rich color, and then it should look great! If I can, I am going to try to get a couple of pics while they are shooting!
I will admit, I did not think this would be as big of a project as it turned out to be, as about 80% of the car will have new paint when it is all said, and done, but I am very confident with the guys on the job! I have not met the Air Brusher in person as of yet, but have seen a lot of his work, and he seems to be very talented! I have been good friends with the owner of the Body Shop for a few years, and he is actually importing the Air Brush Artist for this job specifically! And, since my Body Shop friend does a lot of high end street rod work, and he is the only guy I have ever met that is more picky about extreme perfection in paint, and body than me! ;D
So here I sit, waiting, for probably another week, and a half to get my baby home, and then it is off for a quick photo shoot of the new paint up by the Lake, before being loaded onto a trailer, and making another 200 mile journey down to my custom metal fabricator by El Centro where it will go back under the knife for a bunch of custom one off plating, my one off Mini Piston shiftier, more audio/Video, Lighting work, and spend some time working on dialing in our new forward tilt hood kit!
So far, my ride has been in the Body Shop for about a month and a half, and it will spend another month in the fab shop, but when it is all said, and done, it should be pretty cool, and should be pretty well set to do a preliminary preview at PT's in the Park, in May, and then my big debut at the Navy/Marine Corps Relief Fund CAr Show in Lemoore in October!
I Just cant wait till it all comes together, and hopefully I might have enough wow factor to maybe be able to park next to all your guys rides!
I will be sure to keep you guys up to speed as everything progresses! Till then, take it easy!

Hey Everyone, Well, The Tangerine Pearl Paint from Chrysler should be in this afternoon, and as soon as it gets here, they are going to shoot the Grille, and front, and back bumpers which are in primer, sitting in the booth as we speak! All of the body work is done, paint color sanded to the rear doors, and ready for flames by Friday! ;D I can't wait! Here are a few pics I snapped this morning while it was sitting outside the shop. One of the problems with matching this color is that #1, it's metallic, and #2, it takes 5 different tints to get the color, in varying amounts.Another problem is that when they're sprayed at the factory, one day they might have more gold in the paint booth, and the next day more red, so they come out somewhat inconsistent from car to car, making it nearly impossible for people to match it up later. Whatever you do, make sure that the person doing the painting sprays several test cards *BEFORE* slapping it on your car! Take it easy! Candyman

I can't wait to see the end result either candy.....man, you're teasin' us!!! But I understand about the waiting thing, my brother is having a '66 Mustang painted, and it's been in the shop since last April!! But the guy is REALLY good, takes everything off twice and aligns each seam perfectly, and puts it all back together after paint. So the wait is worth it, if it's a great paint job. The flames are gonna be wonderful I'm sure, got champagne?!?!??!
