Hey Everyone, Well, my Project Flames is starting to come together! Today we got some color on, and I have to say, I couldnt be happier with the looks so far! We did the flames in black, and then added some streaks of gold, copper, an gun metal pearl to add some texture! The streaking effect makes the flames change color when light hits it. The effect is really cool, but the pics just don't do it justice! Sometime tomorrow Roger is going to come back and air brush the drop shadow giving that 3 dimensional look like they are coming off of the paint, then add some more orange, and smoke highlighting, and then hand pinstripe it. Then lastly, it comes my 14 coats of clear! They said they were hoping on having it all buttoned up by Monday! ;D ;D ;D ;D I can't wait! Here are some fresh pics of the raw flames right out of the booth! Enjoy! Take it easy! Candyman

Looks great! I want your opinon, (and anyone else reading this). I have a paint idea that i havn't seen yet. I have inferno red on my car and was think of redoing my flames. I want regular shaped long slender flames painted with shade shifter colors in shades of red with realistic flames painted inside of the regular flame out line. Then have it outlined in a wide black pin stripe. I just wish I could see it done before I think about spending a bunch of money and then not liking it.

That sounds wonderful Terry....maybe someone that is good with Photoshop can get with you and draw it out, before the trip to the paint booth. What I see, with your description, may not be what you have envisioned. If you get someone to do that, post the images here and let us look....that would give everyone a peg on what you're describing. Good luck!!! It does sound beautiful!!

Hey Terry, Yup, just like Lanette was saying, that sounds way cool, and if you would like any help in kinda playing around with some ideas on layouts, and so on, please just let me know! All I need is a good side view of your PT, and I can kick around some things with Photo shop! I layed out mine, and tweaked it more than a few times till I got it right! Just an example, but this is still the best flame look I have seen to date! I didn't have the budget right now, but the underlayment is going to be my next step in the near future! I know you have probably seen Cherie's ride before, but, it is a great example! Notice how she kept the stock black as a reversed flame, and concentrated on air brushing the flames underneath instead. It is a way cool effect. The biggest thing I have learned over the years is to keep in mind that when it comes to custom paint, their is a very fine line between making a statement, and becoming overstated! Let me know, and I would be more than happy to help out any way I can!Take it easy! Candyman

Thanks candyman, Its just an idea in my head and it may not be all that great or anything like I expect it to look like. If you can give me some thing that looks close to what I have in mind that would be great. It would give me a better idea if its someting I want. Just to let you know I can't view most pictures when I log on here from work, (government computer blocks most of them). So if you can and have time could you send what ever you put together to my home e-mail address? terryrainey@cox.net www.ptcruisersofsandiego.com/image/christmas%202006%20025.jpg [/img]

Hey Terry,
Sorry about not getting back to you sooner! Yup, I am alright, and thank you so much for your concern! I sincerely appreciate it! I accidentally fell while trying to get up off of the couch, and lost my balance. I dislocated my knee, and got my back all worked up for a few days, which just took everything out of me, so I just had to lay low for a few, but I am working on it! I posted in the previous thread on some more ideas for you! Please check them out when you get a chance, and let me know what your thoughts, and ideas are!
Thank you again for your concern, and take it easy!

CM...got your email and I'm really sorry to hear about your fall. I hate gettin' old, don't YOU?!?!? These bodies should be tougher than this!!!! Anyway, you're doing good by laying low for a while and what's with that knee!!! What a bummer. I've never dislocated one, but I've sprang the ACL in both of mine snow skiing, or FALLING while snow skiing. I never hurt myself while I was standing up and going fast. Both times it was when I had slowed for the lift line or waiting on someone. Are you wearing a brace on the knee now? Get well and talk at ya later, Lanette
