Hello Everyone,
Ever wonder what all those Numbers, and Letters on the VIN Number of your PT Cruiser actually signify? Here is a brief breakdown for you.
From Left to Right: Position 1 - Country in which the vehicle was manufactured (Mexico = 3) Position 2 - Manufacturer (Chrysler = C) Position 3 - Vehicle type (multi-purpose vehicle = 4) or (MPV w/side air bags = A) Position 4 - Weight (4000 - 5000 lbs = F) Position 5 - Line (Left hand drive = Y) Position 6 - Series (PT Cruiser Highline = 4) Position 7 - Body-style (4-door liftgate = B) Position 8 - engine (2.4 L 4 cyl. 16 valve = B) Position 9 - check digit Position 10 - Model year (2001 = 1) Position 11 - Assembly plant (Toluca = T) Positions 12-17 are vehicle build sequence (a 6 digit # assigned by the assembly plant)
