Hey Everyone Like many of us, I run Mobile 1 synthetic oil in my PT, but when it comes to oil filters it their seems to be a lot of different preferences, and ideas on which is the best, so here is some good information to help clear up some of the confusion! In a quest to find which oil filter is the best, I purchased an AC Delco PF53 a WalMart/Tech 2K 3614, a Mopar filter, and a Motorcraft FL 400s. I then proceeded to disassemble all of the filters, and It looks like the PF53, and the Super Tech WalMart are made by the same company. The can, base plate, spring, filter media and rubber seal all look to be the same. The Mopar and Motorcraft look to also be made by the same company. But, the Motorcraft filter has a deflector washer under the silicone seal and a larger spring. The Mopar filter has plain rubber seal (smooth no ribs) and no return holes in the top of the filter media cover. All the filters have from 50 to 56 pleates of filter media. The Motorcraft has 69 pleates. So, for what it is worth, I think the Motorcraft FL 400s is probably the best choice as a replacement that I have found! This filter will fit and provides about 125% more filter media do to size and number pleates. I hope this helps shed some light on the subject at any rate! Something to keep in mind next time you have to change the oil! Take it easy! Candyman
