THANKS guys!!!!! I felt special today, from the time I got up at 5 am till right now, when I finally sat down and started checking out the websites!! And now this!!!
Thanks for being good friends and making turning 52 worth it....I got DVD's of Monterey Pop Fest and SRV Dbl Trouble DVD set '82 and '85....and I also got 2 tickets to go see Asleep At The Wheel the 14th! I'm really excited about that one, my friend Luann's husband is working the video part of the show and they're the ones that got me the tickets. So I'm sure it will mean maybe getting to go back and say hi to the band. I met them all back in 1981 at Cain's Ballroom, in Tulsa. So this could be fun or REALLLLY fun! The Wheel does a lot Bob Wills music and Country Swing, like Hot Rod Lincoln and all that. They hail from Austin, but Cain's is old Bob Wills' territory, and it will be fun for them to see someone in Carlsbad, that knows the Cain's people and knew the Will's family. Ahhh....it's almost like going home!!
So all in all, I made out good today in the music dept, and that's just fine with me!!! Ye-haw!!!
I again will wish my Birthday Brothers best wishes and hope their day was fun!!! xoxoxox to both of ya, and take care!! Lanette

Guess what dude!!! My friend Luann and her hubby Mike gave me tickets to go see Asleep at the Wheel....if you aren't a fan of Western Swing or don't know who they are, then it won't mean much. I knew the previous owner of Cain's (he dated a girl I worked with at Peach's Records and Tapes and now he is married to a girl I knew in high school. hehehe see...even Tulsa is small) www.cainsballroom.com/history.htmlThey play a lot of Bob Wills and lots of country hippie swing stuff and here's the fun part: Mike is working the video on this, with the promoter...so chances are I get to say hi to them and let them know this little Tulsan is there. It's no biggie Bruceski....I know you've had your hands full and are busy!! Check out the film I shot last night!! The fore fathers here in this town won't allow beer at Civic public events, so I was MISSING something!!! But we had fun anyway. ahh haaaaa!!!!  |
