Hey Everyone,
A couple of weeks ago I was talking to a couple of Friends of mine who had cruised by the well known PT Cruiser Aftermarket Parts Builder, and Supplier "California Cruisers" Shop and the doors were locked, and signs were down including the full sized Mock Up of a Woodie PT which looked to have been broken in half.
A few days ago I was looking through the Cal Cruisers Website, and it appeared they were trying to liquidate some of their Products, but nothing to really seem to indicate that they were going to be closing up shop so I kind of dismissed it to a certain extent, however I had another PT Friend ask about a specific part made by Cal Cruisers, so I went by their Website to check the price on the part and sure enough, the Cal Cruisers Website is no more.
It has been widely known that Owner PT Bob has over the years built a rather less than professional reputation having had numerous problems with Customer Service, and Quality Control over a number of his parts he produced mostly referring to many of his larger built body parts such as his "Cal 40" Front Ends, and "Roll Pans" which were well known for having heavy issues with proper fitment, Gapping, and having an over abundant amount of defects in materials, among other things.
So, on one hand, it would seem from many of the Stories I have heard people tell, or post online, that PT Bob burned many bridges with his poor Business Practice, but at the same time, he also did a lot for the PT Community as well. Since the conception of the PT, PT Bob has been working on developing one of the largest assortment of Aftermarket PT Parts in existence including several different front ends, his famous Real Woodie Kits, Headlight Eyelids, and much more.
One of PT Bobs Woodie PT's:
No matter what, it is a shame to see anyone within our PT Community go under like that, and I wish PT Bob well.
With the demise of Cal Cruisers, this leaves PTeazer, and ODaddyO now as the prime candidates for the majority of Aftermarket PT Parts Worldwide. Here is to hoping they survive this Economy and not meet the same ultimate fate!
Anyways, you all go easy, and I will catch you later.
