Hey Everyone,
For some reason when it comes to doing custom audio in our PT Cruisers, their are not all that many who seem to want to get too involved in doing much of any work to the front half of their rides. I mean don't get me wrong, trunk layouts are cool, and great for eye candy in the back, but audio wise, the majority are simply designed for the ground pounding bass and little more.
For the majority of us, doing a simple upgrade of the speakers in the doors, and rear pillars, and the occasional mounting of some tweeters in the sail panels seems to be about as far as most of us take it as far as upgrading the rest of our systems, with very few going much beyond that.
On my layout, I went for Rockford Fosgate X162S 6-1/2" 2-way Component Speakers in the front doors with crossovers mounted under the dash, and the tweets small custom made PVC pipe enclosures mounted behind the AC ducts behind the center bezel for a kind of stealth center channel, and Rockford Fosgate T1682S 6"x8" 2-way Component speakers mounted with a custom plate with crossovers set up, and tweeters in PVC ports mounted at a 25 degree down and forward so they project out of the factory speaker locations for now until I get to the pount where I can trim out some hidden tweeter mounts up behind the upper glass trim in the rear hatch so that I can set up better staging, but won't be able to get to that until I start working on fiber-glassing a bunch of the interior panels here some time down the road in the near future. ;D
Anyways, the point I was getting at is, mine is a simple set up, but for some reason mine is more than a lot of us PT people seem to be willing to do. Most are just happy with the ordinary same old boring set ups. So I wanted to post up some cool door panel set ups to show you just waht can be done with a bit of imagination, and a little nerve to walk on the wild side. So check these out.
SORRY, FOR SOME REASON MY PHOTOUCKET IS ONLY POSTING A COUPLE OF THE PHOTOS AT THIS TIME. I WILL TRY TO FIX THIS PROBLEM LATER ON TODAY.
Anyways, their are a few cool door panel audio set ups for you guys. Hopefully it might inspire someone to maybe try to dare to be different and try new things.
What would you do to make your system better either sound wise, esthetically pleasing, cooler, what? Please let me know what you would do?
