Hey Everyone,
When you travel on down the highways, and byways of this great country, you can see some pretty spectacular things! For me, I was lucky to have seen the country through the windshield of an old truck! Unlike many people truck drivers have a unique opportunity to not only see what this great country has to offer from the freeways, but we also get to see small rural towns all over the US, as we make our deliveries, and pick ups! With this said, I thought it might be kind of cool to share a couple of my favorite memories from the road with you, and hope you might share some of yours as well!
3. From an Historical prospective, one of the coolest things I have seen was when I had to make a delivery in Gettysburg Pennsylvania, while several people were getting ready to do a Civil War Re-enactment! I mean, it is one thing to read about it in a History book, but to actually step back in time, and see real Soldiers in full dress uniforms mounting up in the center of town, to head off to fight for our freedom, on the very soil that the Civil War took place was almost surreal, and a once in a lifetime opportunity to see a very important Historical event coming to life!
2. One of my all time favorite sights I have seen was while traveling west out on Interstate 80 , coming from Illinois, on back into Iowa. The sun was just setting, as a pair of hot air balloons were coming in for a landing. The sky was dark blue, with a beautiful purple, and red sunset in the background, and as the balloons were coming in, they would purge their burners to slow their decent, which made the ballons glow against the horizon! It was kind of like driving through a post card, and one of the coolest things I have ever seen!
Now its your turn. What have you seen, or fond memory you have had on the road?
