The Poppy Festival is scheduled for April 19th & 20th in Lancaster, CA.
The What's for Dinner is being on Saturday, so some of us are going to the Poppy Festival on SUNDAY the 20th!!! Yahoo!!! This will be a first for me. Marie's dad was crazy about Poppys, so this is a must for her!
We will meet up 9 AM at Crazy Otto's for breakfast. This place comes VERY well recommended, so forego the Krispy Kremes that morning!! Crazy Otto's is located at:
43528 20TH St W
Lancaster, CA 93534-5960
Phone: (661) 948-6502
Carl & Roni live nearby and are regulars there, so the staff knows them well. We have to be on our good behavior!!
The poppy's blooming is one of the most beautiful sights you'll ever see. The entire desert floor and the surrounding mountains turn orange, the mountains have different varieties of flowers and it looks like someone went out and sprayed the mountains with all the colors of the rainbow.

Some Cruisers are going to come up for the festival, stopping for breakfast at Crazy Otto's. There lots of stuff to see at the Festival Park, and vendors for just about anything you can think of. The entertainment for Sunday will be these two music favorites!!

From 10-5:30 PM on the International Stage, there will be everything from Asian and European dancing to American Indian dancing. Check out all the stuff going on, on their website above.
Plus we could take a little cruise out of the poppy fields, great chance to take some awesome pictures. We could also swing by the Sr71 Blackbird air park for all those airplane buffs. Carl will be the official Tour Guide for the day. And well appreciated!!
WARNING from the Feyh family: They give out packets of flower seeds, these flowers bloom once a year for about two weeks, then they will take over a flower bed.
Ya can't kill them with a hammer!!
Also, California law (since these are the official state flower) requires a $5,000.00 fine for picking them, digging them up or molesting them in any way.
They are pretty to look at in the desert, but not in your garden.
For questions, email webmaster@daydreamcruzn.com and Webby will show you the path to Poppy rightousness.
There will be a group leaving Buena Park at 7:15 AM, so contact me then at 505 499 3009 to meet up with us. It's 95 miles to Lancaster from Buena Park.
