I've wanted to start one of these threads for awhile now, and this may be a good forum to do it at....at any rate I hope someone enjoys it and will add their "back in the day" stuff to it. It's very off-topic and will not have anything to do with PT's, but fun non the less. Long story short: My dad was a boat mechanic/enthusiasts, from back in the day. He could take a Mercury motor, modify the hull on a boat and make that baby fly! In the early 60's, from which I have a DVD of 50 some races held from OK to OH, he owned a Power Cat boat. It was a model 15X, which he appropriately named the X15. (imagination huh?) He didn't do the driving, he just made them fast. I'll brag on one of his other boats some other time, as it was not a Power Cat. But at the end of his 73 years, he had a light blue 15 ft 1972 Power Cat fishing rig sitting in his garage. The battery was hooked up to the charger, just in case he got to feeling better. A real diehard boat guy he was! I found this website that is a library of Power Cats, old and a few new. In one section, one of the orginial PC guys has assembled photos and magazine cut outs, and posted them online. It's a collection of 99 photos, so look at them at your leisure. You guys may not care about the boats, but the designs and the pics are priceless. They are not only a timeline of boats, race boats and people. The PC factories were in CA and Victoria, TX (where Dad would get his from) and these pictures are a treasure of pics of Long Beach and areas of CA, that will take you back in the day. powercatboat.com/1.html(Click the "forward" at top to advance them. You'll see Roy Rogers and his "new boat" and several land marks of Los Angeles.)

Well, I ran across a photo of dear ol' dad the other day, and it and another are kinda related to the boat post that I made before. I can tell not too many are interested in this stuff, but I won't ever be accused of not sharing needless family trivia!!! Here's my dad in the garage, working on his Scott At-water boat with a Mercury motor. I know it had a Merc, cuz he was a Merc man, exclusively with no exceptions. This is dad, 2nd from right, and a crook of a friend of his named Bill Cotner....the funny part is, Bill drove the stock car, a Fluorescent Orange #1 Ford w/ a 30 something body, and he never won a thing driving. My dad did ALL the engine and body work and also won an award for Best Paint circa 1963. But look who got to hold the trophy and stand next to the girl! This was taken at the Tulsa Speedway, that was part of the Fairgounds at 41st and Yale. It has the only dirt flat track there, and has been gone since the 80's...to make way for a parking lot for Wet Splash. And finally, Here's the creator of BASS Assoc Ray Scott, my dad's friend Don Butler of Tulsa, and Roland Martin. Butler owned Okiebug Tackle, I went to the same school his kids attended and in '67 Butler became the first Charter Member of BASS, when he ask Scott how much he would charge for a lifetime membership, if and when he started this so called fishin' club. Scott replied $100. Martin also lived near Tulsa for awhile, and was a member of the Tulsa Bass Club, along with Butler and my dad. So there ya have it....hope you endured my family pictures that are fishing and boat related.

Hey Lanette, Way cool pics, and thank you for sharing them! I don't have much in the way of History behind these, but figured I would throw a few of my family pics in the mix just for the heck of it! First off is a pic of me, and my family: My boy Anthony, me, Daughter Catherine, and Wife Cecilia and here is a pic of me, and my wife way way back when I was still playing around with calf roping! I still actually have all my gear in the closet, and my old Cowboy hat hanging in my living room! Next is me, and my dad, and just below is his El Camino we built together a while back! Please note, I DID NOT PICK THE COLORS! LOL We had a lot of debate over that one! I did do most of the interior, disassembly, reassembly, and final detailing! And finally, here is a pick of me way back in 2001 sitting in one of the first PT's ever built. This was taken in the Mall of America in Minneapolis MN, which is one of the largest malls in the world. The place is 4 stories, each covering 1 mile, and has a LegoLand, full amusement park including a Log Ride, and all, a Submarine with huge aquarium in the basement, and much much more! Anyways, I thought it was kinda funny to see me sitting in a PT way before I ever imagined I would own one! Their ya go! Now you guys have suffered through my home picks! Again, thank you for sharing Lanette! I enjoyed them very much! Candyman

WOW!! It's good to have a face to go along with names CM, and your family is gorgeous. I guess you know that daughter of yours is one you better brush up on your shotgun reloading techniques for huh?!?! She's a cutie! Thanks to you too for posting special pics, and the EL Camino is awesome! Our Sheriff Waller here has a Wimbleton White El Camino that he shows, and I think it's the same year, if not it's really close. My dad was a Ford man....wouldn't drive anything else, and it was always fun sitting around his boat shop and hear all the guys banter back and forth about Fords this, and Chevys that and Dodge trucks are the best yata yata yata!!! It could be long arguments if they had the time. btw~ The (green) Dr Pepper cooler, that is sitting up on that shelf behind my dad in that pic of him in the boat, is over in my brother's house in NC. (that stuff all came from him having a DX station from 1958-1963.) I got the one he didn't want, the Coke box, that sat in their attic from '59 till 1985, when I rescued it. He was a Dr Pepper guy and hated anything Coke. He wouldn't have "that crap" in his station.....so as a result, it was all almost new cuz he wouldn't use it! hehehe I love that old stuff, my house is full of it. Ask the OC bunch, they've been here! Have a nice one and talk at you guys later!!

Thanks Frank....ya know, I miss Oklahoma so bad sometimes. All my friends from HS are there, all the boat and fishing people are there and the last remainders of Dad's family are all there. My brother the Veterinarian, is in NC and his son is in Atlanta, but that's the only ones not in OK. So the older I get, the more I miss it. Even tho I hate the humidity and the heat, and it would be pretty uncomfrotable for me to live there now, with the health issues I have.....I still miss the lakes, the fun stuff, family and friends. So I'm glad enjoyed the old pics. I recently found a guy that I worked with in early '80's when I worked at Peaches Records and Tapes, in Tulsa. A guy that managed the OKC store found some pics of Peaches I had on FlickR, and he wrote me. I found out quickly that he's in touch with that one manager that I had worked with and I reconnected with him after losing track of him when we moved out here 15 years ago. The internet is such a cool thing.....it's given me the gift of many friends and much happiness. What'd we DO before this thing got so big?!?!? Take care and talk at cha later!!

Here's one from Back in the Day...I'm sure you can figure out who it is, but do you know his real name?
He's been trained in classical piano and heads for Hollywood to change his dream. And this happens:
